A gift…

Hi all…

Today I received the most magnificent gift!

Our daughter, Megan, is doing important work in educating and assisting parents and adults who work with adolescents.

She has spent much of her professional life researching, learning and creating content to support parents and empowering them to achieve healthier relationships with their children.

Through her work, she shares stories of her own experiences as an adolescent.

Today, while being interviewed, she shared a story that she and I, now that we are both adults, laugh about.

When she was around 11-13 I would truly get nauseous waiting for her to return on the bus from school.

I never knew what I would encounter and how she might be…

Adolescent behavior is fraught with emotions!

As Megan is now helping other parents understand, it’s our job as their parent to be the steady force in their life… to be the adult, to accept it’s our job to be their parent and not their friend.

Today on her guest appearance she shared that time of our lives together.

What a marvelous moment to hear your adult child say you gave her what she needed!

My phrase was “ it’s my job to be your parent… not your friend “

Being a friend with your children happens when you choose to be their parent as they grow and evolve.

What a gift Megan gave me today while sharing that with her Podcast host.

I am so very grateful!

Thanks for reading,

Pam
